Cow/Calf Health Management Services (CCHMS) has developed and owns a proprietory online cow/calf health management software program called TraceBack. TraceBack has become the main data collection and management tool for all of our clients; commercial and seedstock. TraceBack is designed to aid the cow/calf producer in the monitoring and surveillance of all events (health and production) that occur to each and every individual animal.
Having a Web-based program means there is no need to install any software or subsequent updates and it can be used and accessed anywhere Internet access is available. This configuration also allows for the centralized location of data so all of our clients information can be kept secure and backed up daily.
TraceBack has a unique program feature where the managing veterinarian is notified by email when a health event (treatment or postmortem examination) is created and this event must then be reviewed by the veterinarian prior to being 'posted' into a history file. This gives the managing veterinarian the ability to provide continual surveillance and if required verification of each herds treatment records.
Monthly, weekly and sometimes daily reports are sent through an automatic subscription service to our clients to help insure timely and quite often instant feedback on the data being collected. For those clients that wish to access their own reports they can login directly to the report server using their TraceBack account.
All of the data that is collected or measured (i.e health and production indices) can also be used to benchmark against historical data within each herd and across the entire database. One of the most powerful aspects of the TraceBack program is the ability to provide complete traceability of all processes, treatments and movements at the individual animal level from the time of entry into the herd (i.e. birth or purchased) until the animal leaves the herd (i.e. sale or death).
