In 1994 I started my own veterinary services company (Drake Veterinary Services Ltd.) and began a cow/calf health program where the goal was to minimize the effect of disease and maximize the production potential within each cow/calf herd.
The business model was based on a fee/cow/year in return for a variety of pre-established service provisions. This fundamentally changed the paradigm of a traditional reactive veterinary service to a sustained proactive partnership where the focus was on the prevention of disease and not just on the treatment.
In 2005 we changed our business name to Cow/Calf Health Management Services (CCHMS) so that the name could better reflect the type of services our company offered. We were no longer only providing veterinary services! The business focus has now evolved into an ongoing commitment between CCHMS and our clients to produce safe-traceable-high quality beef.
